Upholstery Cleaning Ellenbrook, in my words

What I notice when I work here

Ellenbrook has some of the nicest outdoor spaces in Perth -especially around the lakes in the established south side – and inside those homes you’ll often find well‑loved couches that have seen plenty of family life. With bigger block sizes and plenty of pet‑friendly homes, upholstery here tends to work hard: dogs on the lounge, guests staying over, and modular sets that get used every day.

Below is a real Ellenbrook upholstery job, described in my own words: what the lounge was like, how I approached it, and how it turned out. I add new local jobs from time to time, so you can see exactly how I work in Ellenbrook and nearby suburbs like Aveley, The Vines, Henley Brook and Brabham.

A recent upholstery cleaning Ellenbrook job — neighbour to neighbour

What looked ready for replacement became a fresh, clean sofa again — all done for a neighbour just streets away.

The job

Transforming a compact sleeper lounge after heavy use and pet odour

A customer just around the corner from me asked me to clean his fabric lounge: a 2-seater sofa bed (with a pull-out section underneath) joined to a chaise in an L-shape.

The people who had been living with him had recently moved out, and their dog often lay on the couch. It wasn’t a urine problem, but there was a typical doggy smell when he used it, and stain marks all over. He wanted it fresh and clean again.

He sent me photos beforehand and accepted my quote based on them. On a sunny Ellenbrook day he greeted me with a handshake and “nice to meet you, neighbour”. The lounge was clearly smaller than the photos suggested, so I lowered the price to match.

Getting to work

Step‑by‑step: how I cleaned and restored this sleeper lounge

  1. With his OK, I took the set apart: removed the armrests, separated the chaise from the 2-seater, and took out the pull-out base.
  2. I vacuumed the tiles underneath first, picking up debris that had fallen through the gaps.
  3. I vacuumed every piece thoroughly with an upholstery tool and a strong vacuum. That step alone made a visible difference.
  4. I laid protective drop sheets over the floor and pre-treated the stains spread across the set.
  5. I applied a professional upholstery cleaning solution, agitated it gently, let it dwell, then extracted it with my truck-mounted hot water extraction system.
  6. I groomed the fabric, placed the pieces close together without touching so they could dry, and let him know it would be fully dry by the next day.

How this Ellenbrook upholstery cleaning job turned out in the end

A sleeper lounge that could easily have been replaced now looks like a fresh, comfortable sofa set again.

The dog smell was gone, the fabric looked clean and even, and the customer was genuinely happy with the final appearance. He was also pleased that the invoice came in lower than the original quote once I saw the lounge in person.

Before I left, I mentioned that a tile and grout clean would make a big difference to his tiled floors. He’d already seen it on my website and said he’ll get in touch when he’s ready.

Upholstery Cleaning Ellenbrook: Your Questions Answered

Upholstery cleaning is priced per seat, at $75 to $90 per seating position depending on loose or attached cushions and seat size. A 3-seater plus a 2-seater (5 seats) usually comes to between $375 and $450. A minimum call-out of $360 applies, and it can be combined with carpet or other services on the same visit.

Yes. Send me photos of your lounge and I’ll give you a quote based on what I can see. On the Ellenbrook job on this page, the customer accepted my quote from his photos. When I arrived, the lounge was smaller than it looked, so I lowered the price to match. The final price always reflects what’s actually there.

Yes. On the Ellenbrook job on this page, I took the set apart with the owner’s OK: removing the armrests, separating the chaise from the 2-seater, and taking out the pull-out sofa bed base. Cleaning each piece separately means no hidden areas get missed, and I vacuumed the floor underneath too.

Yes, in most cases. A typical doggy smell from a dog lying on the couch comes from hair, skin oils and dirt worked into the fabric. A thorough vacuum, pre-treatment and hot water extraction removes it. If the smell is from urine, see the next question.

Yes. Urine doesn’t just sit on the fabric. It soaks into the padding and foam underneath, so it needs a different process from a standard upholstery clean.

I use professional acid neutralisers and enzyme treatments designed for urine salts and bacteria. I assess the affected areas on site and give you a clear price before starting any treatment.

Usually by the next day. After cleaning, I place the pieces close together without touching so air can circulate properly. Good ventilation – open windows or a fan – speeds things up.

If your lounge has loose cushions, they should be rotated every couple of hours until fully dry, and again the next day. This prevents moisture settling in one spot and helps them dry evenly.

Yes. Many Ellenbrook customers book a couch and carpet clean together, and both count toward the $360 minimum. I also clean tile and grout. On this job, I mentioned it to the owner because a tile clean would make a big difference to his floors.
